CITY YEAR NEW HAMPSHIRE

Phone: (603) 773-1787 Fax: (603) 773-1649

City Year is a national service organization founded in 1988 to demonstrate that young people in service could be a powerful resource for addressing our nation's most pressing issues. Over the years, City Year has been built on the belief that one person can make a difference, and with the vision that one day service will be a common expectation - and a real opportunity - for citizens all around the world. Key elements of City Year's program include cultivating a culture of ethnic, educational, socio-economic "inclusivity", and a lifelong sense of civic commitment among diverse corps members.

One of fifteen sites in the City Year, Inc. International Network and part of the AmeriCorps National Service Network, City Year New Hampshire was launched on October 11, 2000, as the first non-urban City Year site. Now in its fifth year, 31 City Year members will serve the state of New Hampshire and the communities of Somersworth, Seabrook, Nashua, and Manchester.

City Year New Hampshire's mission is to support the positive, healthy development of children and youth through the experience of service learning and civic engagement, so that they grow up as confident, compassionate, and active citizens. In partnership with middle and high schools, community and faith based organizations, civic agencies, and New Hampshire-based corporations and foundations; we provide innovative, out-of-school time activities that focus on community service, leadership and teamwork skills, and diversity awareness and appreciation. City Year also maintains an ongoing presence in schools as role models, one-one mentors, academic tutors, and providers of support services to each student body we serve.
