Responsible for administering programs to provide financial and
medical assistance to people in NH who are in need and meet
eligibility requirements. Financial Assistance Programs: Old Age
Assistance, Aid to Needy, Aid to the Blind, Aid to Permanently
and Totally Disabled, Temporary Aid for Needy Families. Medical
Assistance: Medicaid is designed to help persons with limited
income obtain medical services. Food Stamps: Administers Food
Stamp Program.

The Bureau of Elderly & Adult Services (BEAS) provides social
and supportive services to elderly adult or persons living with
disabilities/chronic illnesses. Some of the services available
are:
case management, counseling, adult group day care, adult in-home
care, home-delivered and congregate meals, homemaker's services,
emergency support, transportation, and respite care. In addition,
special programs also available are:

Within DEAS, the Office of Community Services receives and
investigates reports of alleged abuse, neglect, or exploitation
of elderly adults/persons with disabilities/chronic illnesses.

The Council provides no direct services, but offers information
and referral. Anyone who has a developmental disability, or is a
family member, service provider, friend or advocate of a person
with a developmental disability may call for assistance at the
above number.
The Council helps to monitor state services for people with
developmental disabilities, recommends policies, advocates for
systems and/or legislative change, when appropriate. We help to
educate policy makers and the public about innovative service
practices and other issues affecting people with developmental
disabilities and provide grants to fund demonstration projects
which fit into the Council's federal Five-year plan.
